I’m Brooke Macomber (like cucumber), a recent UX Design Manager with a rich tapestry of experiences spanning diverse industries from user focused fintech services at Ally Financial to healthcare innovation at UnitedHealth Group, and beyond. Living in metro Detroit, my journey weaves through the heart of America's design resurgence, where I wasn’t just a witness but an active participant in shaping the midwest digital landscape.

Cross-Industry Innovation
My tenure at Ally from 2018 to 2023 was marked by groundbreaking work, integrating UX design principles into product teams, fostering an environment where creativity meets functionality. The "Good, Better, Best" initiative helped further cross-functional collaboration and the Customer Help Journey project stands as testament to the potential of thoughtful design in addressing real-world challenges, especially during critical times like the pandemic.

Transitioning to financial solutions from the complex world of healthcare at UnitedHealth Group, I held a vision of enhancing user interactions at every touchpoint, demonstrating the versatility and impact of design across sectors. The OSAM project (shown here) among others, highlighted my ability to dive deep into industry-specific needs while elevating the user experience to the next level.

Foundation and Freelance Mastery
My foundational roles and freelance projects laid the groundwork for my adaptive design approach. From crafting compelling presentations for Audi to defining corporate identities at Towers Watson, and supporting iconic brands like Pixar and Marvel at Thinky Tink and Giddy Up, each role enriched my design palette, adding flavor to my experience, enabling me to navigate and innovate within any industry.

Design Philosophy
The eclectic mix of experiences has culminated in a singular design philosophy: Design transcends aesthetics and yet relies on them; it's a universal language of solving problems, connecting emotions, and enhancing lives, irrespective of the domain. My approach is rooted in empathy, driven by curiosity and connection, and focused on delivering not just solutions but experiences that resonate on a human level.
I believe in design that's inclusive, intuitive, and impactful, capable of bridging the gap between technology and people across any field.
